Welcome
to the History section of the WPHPA website. The following pages contain hundreds of facts relating to
events that have happened through the years as horseshoe pitching in Western PA
continued to grow and evolve. I’ve
always had a fascination with the history of things, and horseshoes is no
different. I’m constantly tracking
down new facts and little known truths about this great sport, and this section
is a place where I can share it all with you.
What
you see here is just a small percentage of the things I have lying around here
waiting for me to read through.
Books, binders, folders, and plastic bins full of papers take up a good
percentage of my basement. Some of
the stuff you see here comes from Herman Boyer, Don Witt, Ron Weiss, Ed Blum,
and Jack Rainbow. Others come from
publications by the NHPA.
If you have anything in your possession that you feel would be a valuable addition to these pages, by all means contact me. Thanks – and enjoy.
